Marketing Tips from Hulk Hogan

- Good Gimmick or Great Branding? – Is there really a difference? One thing that Hulk Hogan did really well was build a great brand around his name and the catch phrases he created (hulkamania, say your prayers & take your vitamins, adding “brother” to the end of sentences, etc). Before long, if you thought of Hulk Hogan, you immediately thought of one of his many phrases he spit out each week in front of the camera.
- Build exclusivity in your circle of clients – If you are a hulkamaniac, you know how exclusive that club can be. Yes, there are literally millions of people who consider themselves hulkamaniac’s, but the size of the club doesn’t dictate how exclusive of a feeling you get when you’re ‘in’. By building a circle around your core audience and allowing them to feel a bit more special than the rest, you’re going to have people ready to spread the word about you every chance they get.
- Do The Impossible – Who doesn’t remember when Hulk Hogan slammed Andre the Giant? It was something no one had ever done before and when Hogan did it, he immediately skyrocketed his stock in the world of Professional Wrestling as the man who did the impossible. What can you do to help set your business apart from your competition that will have potential clients looking at you like the world looked at Hulk Hogan?
- Do everything over-the-top – There’s nothing that Hulk Hogan does that is low-key and your marketing efforts shouldn’t be low key either. He’s flamboyant and dramatic and makes sure that no matter what he’s doing, he’s got all the eyes in the room on him. - Aim for greatness – When Hulk Hogan was starting out as a wrestler, he did his first shows in smaller venues and at his first day of training, he left with a broken leg. Hogan didn’t let that stop him and he pushed forward to get better and build a name for himself which is exactly what we should be doing on a daily basis through social media profiles, creating amazing work for clients and spending as much time as possible honing our craft and building on our skill sets. After all, one of the best ways to get yourself noticed is by being a total bad ass at your job.
