Awesome article! Do you feel NOT having a blog will work against you? My fianceé and I are freelance designers and are currently in the process of a major revamp to our site. Do you think it would hurt us client wise..not having a blog?

Yeah, if your blog/business can chat up things you do for a living, or a product you want to promote by giving out the tips and pointers like that, you’re able to benefit from your blogging even more.

Very good article, and I can absolutely concur. I would also add that quality and relevance of content matter tremendously. We are an IBM business partner and subsequently we sell their software. Posts that show tips, pointers, and best practices always drive up the traffic as others tend to bookmark them and link to them. Our blog traffic is 10X our web site traffic, and we update our web site 2-3 times a month.

totally agree. same case is with my freelance and blogging. just because of my articles 70% of traffic on my official site comes from my blog…. and it has increased a lot after starting blogging…..

Yeah, I agree. You’ve got to have the time to blog properly, but I think it’s an important part of your freelance business and one that should require you to carve time out for it.

Thanks for the article, completely agree, its just finding the time! I try to at least post a news stories on my site once a month and update my portfolio to keep things fresh for the Search Engines and Visitors
